licensed practical nurse (L.P.N.)

Education: College/CEGEP. Work setting: Nursing home/home for the aged. Chronic or long-term care facilities/centres. Tasks: Administer medications. Apply aseptic techniques including sterile dressing. Conduct specimen collection. Ensure infection control. Monitor nutritional intake. Observe and record medication's therapeutic and side effects . Record medication's therapeutic and side effects observations in patient files. Take vital signs. Monitor established respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy. Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families.
