Job Description Agilent’s ACG R&D organization is seeking an R&D Manager to a software development team within ACG R&D. This role is responsible for people leadership, delivery execution, operational management, and cross-functional alignment for software R&D areas supporting CrossLab Connect, enterprise lab applications, analytics, monitoring, integrations, and related digital services. The manager will lead a globally distributed software R&D team developing SaaS-based applications, data pipelines, integrations, and customer-facing capabilities that connect laboratory instruments, service workflows, customer environments, and Agilent enterprise systems. The role requires strong technical judgment, business partnership, operational discipline, and the ability to translate strategic priorities into executable team plans. Key Responsibilities Manage the overall operations, priorities, staffing, and delivery execution for an assigned software R&D team. Provide direct people leadership, coaching, performance management, and career development for software engineers, related technical contributors and contractors. Partner with product management, product ownership, architecture, quality, SRE, support, IT, marketing, and other stakeholders to align plans with business objectives and product strategy including presentations to stakeholders and sponsors. Lead development and delivery activities for SaaS-based applications, analytics, monitoring, data pipelines, integrations, and enterprise software capabilities. Support both new product development and sustaining engineering for deployed enterprise software products and services including participation in production incident triage and follow-up. Establish team operating practices that improve planning discipline, execution predictability, quality, communication, and cross-functional coordination. Identify delivery risks, technical issues, dependency gaps, or resource constraints that may delay products, releases, or projects, and drive appropriate mitigation, escalation, or corrective action. Conduct and collaborate on research, development, and technical evaluation activities relevant to long-term product and technology objectives. Support technical decision-making across areas such as cloud-native architectures, data-centric systems, APIs, enterprise integrations, observability, cybersecurity, and operational readiness. Drive effective agile planning, prioritization, backlog alignment, and coordination across globally distributed teams. Build a strong team culture focused on accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, engineering excellence, and customer impact. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience. A minimum of 2 years of experience formally or informally leading people, projects, programs, or technical delivery teams. Experience leading software development or technical delivery in SaaS, enterprise applications, analytics, monitoring, data platforms, laboratory informatics, or related digital product environments. Strong understanding of software development lifecycle practices, agile delivery, release planning, sustaining support, and cross-functional product development. Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, resolve ambiguity, develop people, and maintain execution focus in a globally distributed team environment. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with both technical and non-technical audiences. Preferred Experience Experience in life sciences, laboratory informatics, scientific instruments, services, or other regulated enterprise environments. Experience with CrossLab Connect or similar lab operations, asset management, service management, monitoring, analytics, or customer-facing digital platforms. Experience supporting enterprise or B2B cloud platforms, including SaaS, data/analytics, monitoring, or integration systems. Familiarity with data-centric architectures, including batch or streaming data pipelines, data models, integration patterns. Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, microservices, APIs, web applications, containerization, CI/CD, and DevOps practices. Experience supporting both new product development and sustaining activities for deployed enterprise software products. Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, predictive analytics, IoT/edge systems, telemetry ingestion, digital twins, or data-driven laboratory operations. Experience with agile development methodologies, distributed team collaboration, and cross-functional planning across product, engineering, architecture, quality, and operations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
