Job summary
Your Opportunity: Brooks Acute Care is a 28 bed unit providing care to medical/surgical patients received from the emergency department, transfer from regional/tertiary facility, home or operating room. This environment is suitable for an LPN who has recent medical/surgical, maternity or emergency room experience. As a member of the CoAct team, you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients and families, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and families. The LPN provides safe and effective nursing care according to hospital policies and nursing care standards. Working within the full scope of practice, the LPN observes, monitors, reports, and documents changes in the patients physical, mental, and emotional state and assists the patient with activities of daily living. The LPN is responsible to collaborate as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team, delivering consistent quality care to meet the needs of the patient. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications: Minimum of one (1) year experience in adult med/surg nursing experience within the last 2 years. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention. Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of CoAct and collaborative care in the acute care setting. Current IV, Level 1 CVC, epidural, PCA, Narcan and IV Direct certifications. NRP, STORK, ACORN.

Requirements
Requires completion of an accredited practical nurse program and active registration with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta. Candidates must have BCLS-HCP certification and at least one year of adult med/surg experience within the last two years.
