Your Opportunity: Wetaskiwin has an exciting opportunity for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position on their Acute Care unit! Wetaskiwin is a large rural hospital, and you will have the opportunity to work on all three inpatient acute care units. The acute care units range from 21 to 27 beds with the prospect of working surgical/medical/telemetry. They foster a strong collaborative team environment with Nurses, Physicians, Unit Clerks, and Health Care Aides. This position will report to the Unit Manager - Wetaskiwin and will support the surgical/medical/telemetry units. The LPN will be committed to providing open communication and feedback with respect for colleagues, care providers, patients and families. The LPN will also work as a member of a health care team, collaborating on the delivery of care to meet the needs of the patients/clients. The LPN participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care and should expect to work to their full scope of practice. This position offers the opportunity for both personal and professional development within a variety of teams. Wetaskiwin is located 70 km south of Edmonton in the heart of Central Alberta. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization. Classification: Licensed Practical Nurse Union: AUPE AUX Unit and Program: Unit 35, Acute Care Primary Location: Wetaskiwin Hospital & Care Ctr Location Details: As Per Location Multi-Site: Not Applicable FTE: 0.50 Posting End Date: 15-OCT-2026 Employee Class: Regular Part Time Date Available: 26-OCT-2026 Hours per Shift: 11.08 Length of Shift in weeks: 12 Shifts per cycle: 22 Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $33.16 Maximum Salary: $43.42 Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications: Strong communication skills, both written and orally. Minimum (1) year employment as a licensed practical nurse in acute care in the past (2) years. Preferred Qualifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support, Non-violent Crisis Intervention training courses. Palliative and Wound Care courses.

Requirements

Applicants must complete an accredited practical nurse education program, hold or be eligible for an Alberta LPN practice permit, and have current Basic Cardiac Life Support for Health Care Providers. The role also requires strong written and oral communication skills and at least one year of recent acute care LPN employment within the past two years.
