Job summary
Your Opportunity: Reporting to Executive Director of Women’s Health, this position functions as part of a multidisciplinary team working closely with multi-disciplinary Obstetrical Care Providers within the Family Maternity Place and Women’s Clinics seeing patients who present with an obstetrical need for assessment, care and treatment. The NP’s primary focus will be within the triage, labour and delivery and postpartum phases of care. In addition, the NP may provide support within the Women’s Health ambulatory clinics that include Early Pregnancy Assessment, within the outpatient service area of Early Pregnancy Assessment, Obstetrics, Gynecological Procedure Room and others. The NP will lead and create complex care plans for OB patients who are registered to delivery at South Health Campus. Demonstrates competence with assessment of obstetrical patients using advanced physical examination (e.g. pregnancy loss patients, pre-eclampsia patient). Demonstrates clinical competency in clinical procedures such as Leopold’s Maneuver, Basic U/S assessment (e.g. position check), Cervical assessment, Speculum exams, Assessment of amniotic fluid, IV therapy, Venipuncture, Inductions of Labors (e.g. cervidil and foley insertions), Basic Gynecological procedures, I.V. therapy, and Injections. Description: As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Requirements
Candidates must hold a Master's degree in a Nurse Practitioner program and maintain active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta. Additionally, 1-2 years of experience in a Labour and Delivery or Postpartum setting as an RN is required.
