Your Opportunity: This position works within the allied health and larger home care team to provide occupational therapy services to home care clients within the Vermilion area. As this is a home care position, this does require the successful applicant to have a valid driver’s license and operating vehicle as they will be required to travel to clients’ homes in the surrounding areas. Description: As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for the coordination of occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team where you will be an integral member, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be providing coordination of the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will be participating in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will be making decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. As assigned, you will carry out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator and/or advocate in your program or service area. Requirements
Requires a master’s degree in occupational therapy, or a bachelor’s degree with related experience, and active or eligible registration and a practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists. Current BLS certification, a valid driver’s license, and access to an operating vehicle are required.
