Your Opportunity: The Home Enteral Nutrition Therapy (HENT) Registered Nurse is a highly specialized clinical nursing role within Alberta Health Services' Home Nutrition Support Program. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, the RN provides expert assessment, consultation, care planning, monitoring, and evaluation of enteral nutrition therapy for adult patients living in the community. The RN functions as a clinical resource for patients, caregivers, physicians, dietitians, pharmacists, Home Care staff, and other healthcare providers across the continuum of care. Through telephone triage, virtual consultation, patient education, care coordination, and clinical follow-up, the RN supports patients receiving enteral nutrition therapy while promoting safe, effective, and patient-centered care. This position requires advanced assessment skills, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to manage a complex caseload involving patients with significant medical, nutritional, and psychosocial needs. The successful candidate must demonstrate a high degree of autonomy while working collaboratively with interdisciplinary partners to support care planning, troubleshooting, discharge coordination, and ongoing management of enteral nutrition therapy. Description: As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications: Minimum five (5) years recent Registered Nurse experience in acute care, ambulatory care, gastroenterology, medicine, surgery, nutrition support, community nursing, or a related specialty area. Demonstrated experience assessing and managing patients with complex chronic health conditions and multiple comorbidities. Experience with enteral nutrition therapy. Proven ability to exercise independent clinical judgment and function autonomously within a specialized consultative practice. Strong communication, documentation, interdisciplinary collaboration, case management, and telephone triage skills. Advanced knowledge of enteral nutrition therapy, feeding equipment, and management of enteral feeding complications. Experience managing a complex caseload involving assessment, care coordination, consultation, and follow-up. Demonstrated clinical reasoning, prioritization, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Experience supporting patients with complex medical, nutritional, and psychosocial needs. Proficiency with Connect Care, Alberta Netcare, and Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSCN Home Nutrition, enteral nutrition, ambulatory clinics, gastroenterology, chronic disease management, or complex case management recent experience. Expertise in PEG, GJ, jejunostomy, & other enteral access devices, telephone triage & clinical consultation. Expertise in patient education, adult learning principles, quality improvement & serving as a clinical resource/mentor within interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

Requirements

Requires an accredited nursing education, active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta, current BCLS-HCP certification, and at least five years of recent relevant RN experience. Candidates must have enteral nutrition experience, advanced assessment and independent clinical judgment, strong communication and case-management skills, and proficiency with Connect Care, Alberta Netcare, and Microsoft Office; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
