You'll work with realistic, production-grade security scenarios to help AI systems learn how to think like a skilled AppSec analyst: assessing risk, identifying exploitability, and recommending smart remediation. This isn't theoretical work — it's grounded in the messy, complex reality of how software actually breaks. Organization: Alignerr Type: Hourly Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week What You'll Do Analyze real-world application security scenarios across code, APIs, and system behavior Classify and assess vulnerabilities including authentication flaws, injection risks, access control issues, and business logic bugs Evaluate secure coding practices and the quality of proposed remediation strategies Create and validate security-focused reasoning datasets that teach AI how to assess and prioritize application risk accurately Distinguish genuine exploitability from theoretical or low-impact risk — and explain your reasoning clearly Who You Are 2+ years of hands-on experience in application security, product security, or software security engineering Solid working knowledge of the OWASP Top 10 and common production vulnerabilities Able to think like both an attacker and a defender — you know what actually matters in a real environment Strong written communication skills with the ability to structure and explain security reasoning clearly Self-motivated and comfortable working independently on async, task-based assignments Nice to Have Experience with penetration testing, threat modeling, or secure code review Familiarity with bug bounty programs or vulnerability disclosure processes Background in DevSecOps or security tooling integration Why Join Us Work directly on frontier AI systems alongside top research teams Fully remote and flexible — work on your own schedule Freelance autonomy with meaningful, intellectually engaging work Your expertise shapes how the next generation of AI understands security Potential for ongoing work and contract extension

What you’ll do

Analyze application security scenarios involving code, APIs, and system behavior, and assess vulnerabilities for risk and real-world exploitability. Create and validate security reasoning datasets for AI training, evaluate secure coding and remediation approaches, and clearly explain security assessments.

Requirements

Applicants need at least two years of hands-on experience in application, product, or software security and solid knowledge of the OWASP Top 10 and common production vulnerabilities. They should be able to assess security from attacker and defender perspectives, communicate reasoning clearly, and work independently; penetration testing, threat modeling, secure code review, bug bounty, vulnerability disclosure, or DevSecOps experience is an advantage.
