Natural Resource Conservation Scientist (AI Training) About The Role AI is rapidly expanding into environmental science — and it needs experts like you to get it right. We're looking for experienced natural resource conservation scientists to help evaluate and improve AI systems trained on conservation science, land management, and environmental decision-making. Your real-world expertise will directly shape how AI understands ecosystems, interprets conservation challenges, and recommends land management solutions. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where your scientific knowledge makes a tangible difference. Organization: Alignerr (Powered by Labelbox) Type: Hourly / Task-based Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week What You'll Do Review conservation science questions, case studies, and scenarios used in AI training datasets Evaluate the scientific accuracy of AI-generated content covering land use, ecosystems, soil science, hydrology, and biodiversity Assess whether AI-generated recommendations reflect real-world conservation practices and regulatory standards Identify gaps, errors, or misleading reasoning in AI outputs Provide clear, structured feedback to improve scientific reasoning and response quality Work independently and asynchronously — on a schedule that fits your life Who You Are 3+ years of professional experience in natural resource conservation, environmental science, or a closely related field Strong foundational knowledge of ecosystems, land management principles, and conservation science Skilled at evaluating scientific reasoning and applied recommendations with precision Comfortable reviewing and annotating structured written content Self-motivated and reliable when working independently on task-based projects Nice to Have Master's degree or PhD in Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related discipline Hands-on fieldwork or applied conservation experience Familiarity with AI systems, content evaluation, or data annotation workflows Experience with regulatory frameworks such as ESA, CWA, NEPA, or similar Why Join Us Work on cutting-edge AI projects that are shaping how technology understands the natural world Fully remote and flexible — complete tasks on your own schedule Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and collaboration with a global community of scientists and experts Contribute to meaningful work that helps AI make more accurate, responsible environmental recommendations Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
