Your future role The Power Line Technician is responsible for preventative & corrective maintenance on overhead catenary power systems and will assist in other electrical duties ie: TPSS, TVS, batteries, Lighting, general power equipment, switches, switch heaters etc. Responsibilities * Perform routine inspections of overhead contact systems, including contact wire, messenger wire, droppers, cantilevers, registration assemblies, insulators, section insulators, and support structures. * Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance activities on OCS assets. Inspect and maintain switches, disconnectors, feeder cables, return current systems, and grounding/bonding equipment. Measure and verify wire height, stagger, tension, and system geometry. Identify asset defects and recommend corrective actions. * Carry out the power isolation processes / tag out / lock out operation (TPSS, OCS) for the rail system * Be a TPIP (Track power isolation permit) holder * Carry out such work in accordance with strict Health & Safety procedures as defined by legislation and the Company Health & Safety policies. * Participate in the maintenance of some other assets (Ventilation, security assets, Pumps Switches etc.) * Carry out work arising involving the use of computerized Equipment/working manuals. * Exchange / repair some of the assets of the sub-systems. * Undertake other duties related to all infrastructure assets as specified by the Supervisor or Manager * In case of Accident or Major failure, participate in the rescue/corrective operations. * Report activities (work orders / inspections) through a computerized maintenance Management system. * Supervise subcontractor activities. * Attend regular team briefings and read reports and manuals as and when required. * Report accidents/incidents. * Drive company vehicles when required. * Respect, clean and maintain the work environment. * Work with the Rail System Team in case of emergency or extreme weather (ice/snow) to maintain the operation of the Rail System. Technical Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: * Experience working on Power Lines desired * Ability to operate a company vehicle for work-related tasks. * Ability to work effectively with others. * Intermediate Computer Skills in Microsoft Office Applications & Windows Operating System (as needed). * Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language at a high level of proficiency while using the phone, in email communications and in-person. * Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations. * Ability to work at night and weekends Education and Qualifications * Journey Man Electrician or * Linesman or * Electrical Engineering Technologist Desirable:- Experience with Overhead Catenary Systems (OCS), traction power, utility distribution systems, or other high-voltage electrical infrastructure.
