Job Requirements Project Context The UI/UX Designer will contribute to the design of a lightweight user interface for a low-latency, C++-based control system. This interface supports operators in critical subsystem activities, including system recovery and start-up. The project begins with a consulting workshop and builds on an existing proprietary tool. Key Responsibilities Organize and participate in the initial consulting workshop to assess the existing proprietary tool. Review operator workflows and identify UI/UX improvements for critical subsystem operations. Translate development and operational requirements into user journeys, wireframes, and interactive prototypes. Design lightweight, responsive interfaces optimized for low-latency environments. Focus on occasional but critical scenarios, such as system start-up and recovery. Collaborate closely with the C++ development team and operators. Support implementation reviews, usability validation, and design adjustments. Candidate Requirements Senior-level UI/UX design experience Previous software development background Experience designing lightweight, low-latency interfaces Ability to design operator-facing workflows for critical control systems Strong workshop facilitation and collaboration with development teams Nice-to-Have Qualifications Experience in rail, industrial, control-system, safety-critical, or real-time applications Familiarity with recovery and system start-up workflows Why Join Us? Final compensation will be determined after considering several factors, including professional experience, skill set, educational background, certifications, and geographic market conditions. The current target salary range for this role is: Permanent: CAD 100,000/year Subcontractor: CAD 60/hour
