Job summary

Our client, a well-established Law firm located in Downtown Toronto, ON is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to join their leadership team. This is an opportunity for a hands-on finance professional to oversee financial operations, support business objectives, and provide leadership across accounting functions. Permanent Opportunity! Benefits & Perks: Compensation: $160,000 – $210,000 base salary (based on experience) Bonus: Discretionary annual bonus opportunity Vacation: 4 weeks’ vacation Benefits: Comprehensive Benefits package available from Day 1 Retirement: Employer RRSP matching program Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Location: Downtown Toronto Work Model: Fully on-site, 5 days per week Responsibilities: Provide leadership and oversight for the organization’s finance operations. Lead and support accounting, billing, and collections functions. Oversee monthly financial reporting, analysis, and close processes. Review financial statements, reconciliations, and reporting packages. Partner with senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and operational efficiency. Support audit requirements, compliance reporting, and financial governance. Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions. Develop, mentor, and engage finance team members while fostering accountability and collaboration. Ensure effective use of financial systems and reporting tools. Qualifications: CPA designation required. 8+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience. Previous experience leading a finance function at the Director, Controller, or Senior Manager level. Minimum 2+ years of experience within a law firm environment required. Strong full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting experience. Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, and developing finance teams. Strong communication skills with the ability to partner with senior leadership and key stakeholders. Hands-on leadership style with the ability to balance strategic oversight with day-to-day operational involvement. Experience with financial systems, ERP platforms, and process improvement initiatives required. Experience with legal accounting systems (such as Elite 3E or similar platforms) is considered an asset.
