About You You are a Software Developer with at least 2 years of professional development experience, ready to join AppDirect’s Firstbase engineering team. Whether you hold a degree in Computer Science (or a related field) or bring equivalent hands-on experience, you thrive on solving real-world operational challenges. In this role, you will help build and expand Firstbase’s platform, which provisions, tracks, and manages employee IT equipment from onboarding through return and end-of-life. You’ll write software used daily by our warehouse, procurement, and customer operations teams, as well as external customers. What you'll do and how you'll make an impact * Implement and maintain features across Firstbase's product catalog, orders, fulfillment, and customer-facing applications * Build and extend REST and GraphQL APIs using Java (Spring) with guidance from senior engineers on design and approach * Work with PostgreSQL and messaging systems (Kafka, SQS/SNS) as part of the platform stack * Contribute technical designs for assigned features and stories, and explain trade-offs to teammates * Own the quality lifecycle for the work you deliver: write tests at the right layer (unit, integration, and end-to-end), participate in code review, shepherd changes through delivery, and follow through on issues after release. Quality is a shared responsibility across product, engineering, and quality engineering * Partner closely with Firstbase operations (warehouse, procurement, and fulfillment), first-class stakeholders in what we build. Translate their workflows and constraints into software that works in production * Participate in team delivery practices and give and receive feedback actively * AI-assisted development: use coding agents for bounded tasks with review.
