Role description: As part of our continued growth in Western Canada, Arcadis is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Field Engineer to join our expanding team in Vancouver. This role is suited for a technically strong and motivated professional with experience delivering large and complex infrastructure projects in marine, ports, roads, rail and transit sectors. Arcadis is looking for Senior Geotechnical Field Engineers to support the Senior Resident Engineer during Engineering Services During Construction on a variety of heavy civil, transportation, ports, coastal and marine projects, transitioning them from design completion through to construction activates and project completion certification. You will support design development and construction phases while drawing on Arcadis global network of technical specialists. You will work closely with both private and public sector clients, mentor and guide junior colleagues, and contribute to strengthening our geotechnical practice in Western Canada. Role accountabilities: Your primary focus will be to ensure high technical will provide geotechnical engineering support throughout construction, ensuring that the temporary and permanent works are delivered in accordance with the approved design intent, contract requirements, applicable codes, and the requirements of the Engineers of Record (EORs). You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing geotechnical site works such as geotechnical investigations, site surveys and exploration programs. This includes developing the contractor’ scope of work, budgeting, scheduling, and ensuring technical execution meets project requirements. You shall be familiar with the interpretation and characterization of ground conditions based on geotechnical and geophysical data, understanding the translation process of these findings into practical design parameters and recommendations. In addition, you will perform and review detailed constructability and methodology for different structures such as shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, excavations, slopes, ground improvement, etc. During the construction phase, you will provide technical services such as undertaking field reviews reviewing contractor submissions, offering field support, and assessing any changed conditions and unforeseen ground conditions that may arise, review construction method statements, shop drawings, risks assessment, etc. As needed, you will manage multidisciplinary project scopes, subcontractors, schedules, budgets, and risks, supporting the safe and efficient delivery of construction activities. As a senior engineer within the team, you will mentor and guide junior and intermediate engineers, supporting their technical development and maintaining a high standard of practice. Qualifications & Experience: * Minimum 15 years of relevant field geotechnical engineering experience on transportation, heavy civil, ports, marine or large infrastructure projects. * Bachelor's degree in geotechnical engineering or civil engineering or marine/structural engineering or a closely related discipline is preferred. postgraduate qualification preferred. * Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia or eligible for immediate registration * Working Knowledge of the Canadian Foundation Engineering Manual (CFEM 2023) and the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code CSA S6-19 and CSA S6-25 and applicable Canadian standards. * Proven field experience in marine and heavy civil works, deep excavations, quay walls such as combi-walls, sheet pile walls, concrete walls, shore protection, piling work, retaining structures, ground improvement techniques earthworks and marine geotechnics. * Strong understanding of geotechnical investigations, GIRs, GDRs and interpretation of field and laboratory data. * Experience with liquefaction assessment, seismic geotechnics and soil-structure interaction. * Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with multi disciplinary teams. * Excellent technical writing skills with proven experience preparing high quality engineering reports, memoranda, and design documentation. The salary range for this position is $93,000 - $139,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position.
