About

ASL19, named after Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, is a technology and exiled media organization dedicated to addressing the rise of digital authoritarianism globally. For over a decade, ASL19 has worked with and for civil societies, social movements, and other exiled media in some of the most restrictive regions to advance digital rights. ASL19 offers both technical and educational initiatives addressing information control, manipulation, and other forms of digital repression. Through its tools and services, ASL19 has helped millions of people in countries such as Iran, China, and Russia access unfiltered content and bolster critical media literacy, strengthening civil society’s ability to uphold democratic values and government accountability. ASL19’s work is guided by four components of an Information Resilience Framework: Ensuring free access to information, defending information integrity, strengthening society through community and capacity building, and understanding on-the-ground realities through research.
