Role Description: We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position handles core accounting and bookkeeping duties, including reviewing finance documents, managing accounting records and filing systems, processing banking transactions, and assisting with payroll administration. The ideal candidate possesses a background in full-cycle accounting, excellent communication and time management skills, and the ability to manage priorities effectively. Responsibilities Perform monthly reconciliation of bank, credit card, and other balance sheet accounts; investigate and resolve discrepancies independently Review, validate, and maintain supporting documentation for all financial transactions, ensuring completeness and audit readiness Review, code, and process vendor invoices and expense reports accurately and within established timelines Administer payroll data through the payroll service platform, including updates, reconciliations, and coordination with HR as required Maintain the general ledger in QuickBooks Online, ensuring accuracy, proper classification, and compliance with accounting standards Prepare monthly financial statements and post year-end adjustment and accrual entries; support year-end close and external audit process Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance requirements; recommend process improvements where appropriate Generate financial data and prepare recurring and ad-hoc financial reports to support budgeting and business decision-making Prepare and file HST returns and ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations Support the annual financial audit by providing documentation and information as required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting Strong knowledge of Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) Proficient in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks Online Experience with Google Workspace is an asset Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively What We Offer: Competitive salary and benefits Positive, flexible, and dynamic work environment Family-friendly, flexible work hours Chance to do meaningful work in a growing, diverse team Located in downtown Toronto (currently hybrid) How to Apply To apply, please send your resume and cover letter to [email protected], with the position in the subject line.
