The opportunity We have an excellent opportunity for a liability claims professional in our Aviva Business Insurance Claims (ABI) team. Come join our team! What You’ll Do Support ABI Value Proposition every day and with every interaction by providing excellent customer and stakeholder communication on claim matters Provide superior customer service to our clients and partners Investigate, evaluate and settle Auto BI and Commercial General Liability Casualty claims with claimants or their representatives Ability to handle a varied pending, including files in both pre-litigation and litigation as well as out-of-province claims. On litigation files, work in partnership with defense counsel to develop and implement strategies for bringing files to a timely and efficient resolution High level of comfort dealing directly with key clients and broker on all claim-related issues and other assistance as required Interpret and confirm insurance coverage using background knowledge of relevant case law combined with a thorough understanding of policy wordings Ensure file reserves are set on a timely and accurate basis, in accordance with company protocols Maintain control over expenses through pro-active handling techniques Review and analyse Third Party Adjuster other external reports to ensure proper disposition of claims with view to manage costs and provide exceptional customer service; Provide instructions to vendors and TPA’s to adjust claims and ensure they adhere to company policies and procedures; Expert understanding of the claims experience while understanding the technical strategic direction for the claims file Look for new and incremental ways to improve things every day for the customer Clear understanding of financial elements of our claims function to ensure we remain financially strong and deliver year on year improvement in our business performance Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the financial information captured in Aviva systems Develop an appreciation for the insured’s business/ business model in order to provide best in class customer service Identify and report on any suspicions of fraud or financial irregularities in line with existing Aviva procedures Identify opportunities to improve the customer journey, the claims handling processes and financial outcomes for our business What You’ll Bring 5 + years previous claims experience; 2 + years of Commercial Claims; with a strong knowledge of Casualty/Personal Lines CIP Industry designation preferred University Degree or College Diploma or equivalent Casualty technical work experience Technical competence in Commercial insurance Demonstrated experience interacting with clients Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities Proven ability to effectively manage a high-volume workload and prioritize competing demands Collaborative team player with a strong commitment to supporting colleagues and achieving shared goals Atlantic adjuster licensing or ability to obtain the same considered an asset What You’ll Get The salary band for this position ranges from $80,000 to $95,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity. Candidates should have at least five years of claims experience, including at least two years in commercial claims, with strong casualty or personal lines knowledge and technical competence in commercial insurance. A CIP designation is preferred; a university degree, college diploma, or equivalent casualty technical work experience is sought, along with strong communication, decision-making, problem-solving, and workload-management abilities.
