Daily Occasional Custodian Hours of Work: Call-in basis, Monday-Friday (typically afternoon shift), summer hours (July and August, typically transition to day shift) Rate of Pay: $23.09 per hour + 4% vacation pay, as of September 1, 2026 Start Date: As soon as possible Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) provides first class education to students and families throughout Huron and Perth Counties. The Avon Maitland District School Board is inviting applications for casual Custodians who will support our Elementary (K-8) and/or Secondary schools (9-12) located in Huron and Perth counties. The Basic Custodian Duties May Include Building Maintenance Change lights; Shovel snow and operate snow blower; Clean and inspect roof; Operate grass cutting equipment; Perform minor repairs; Conduct health and safety checks; and Service roof top unit. Building Cleaning Operate and maintain all equipment; and Perform all minor and major cleaning. Requirements/Education Minimum grade 12 diploma or GED equivalent Qualifications: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess The ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding. Mechanical aptitude with experience in one or more of the trade disciplines e.g. plumbing, electrical, carpentry. Exemplary interpersonal, professional and organizational skills. The ability to use a computer (e.g. Google Suite; Smart Find, etc.) Experience in handling machinery (e.g. buffing machine, lawn mowers, snow blowers); and, Knowledge of proper usage of hazardous chemicals and cleaning supplies.
