Job summary

Controller Location: Laval In the office 5 days Key Responsibilities Financial Management Oversee all accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, General Ledger, and Banking. Ensure timely month-end and year-end closings. Manage corporate cash flow and prepare rolling cash flow forecasts. Monitor company liquidity and working capital. Maintain internal controls and accounting policies. Construction Accounting Oversee project accounting for all active construction projects. Review project budgets, committed costs, and actual expenditures. Monitor job costing and profitability by project. Prepare and review Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules. Monitor project billings, holdbacks, change orders, and subcontractor payments. Budgeting & Financial Analysis Develop annual operating budgets and forecasts. Prepare financial reports and KPI dashboards for ownership. Analyze project margins and company profitability. Identify cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies. Support strategic planning through financial modeling and forecasting. Banking & Financing Manage banking relationships. Coordinate operating lines of credit and financing requirements. Prepare lender reporting and covenant compliance. Assist with insurance renewals and bonding requirements. Support capital expenditure planning. Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and tax regulations. Coordinate year-end audits and external accountants. Manage GST/HST, QST, payroll remittances, and corporate tax filings. Maintain compliance with provincial and federal reporting requirements. Oversee corporate insurance documentation and financial reporting. Leadership Lead and mentor the accounting department. Develop and improve accounting processes and internal controls. Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Operations, Human Resources, and Executive Management. Qualifications CPA designation preferred. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Minimum 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience. Minimum 5 years of experience in the construction industry. Strong knowledge of construction accounting, WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, and job costing. Experience managing multi-project financial reporting. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Experience with Maestro and construction management software is considered an asset. Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills. Excellent communication skills in English; French is considered an asset. Preferred Experience Commercial construction. Retail and hospitality construction. Multi-entity accounting. Cross-border operations (Canada and USA). Cash flow management for project-based businesses. Bonding and construction financing. Financial reporting for ownership and external stakeholders. Requirements
