Job summary

Our client, a specialist in retail renovations and construction, is looking for a Site Supervisor in Canada. The right candidate must have experience in retail or commercial construction and be willing to travel across Canada to job sites. This is a permanent position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Site Supervisor will coordinate subcontractor schedules, ensure timely execution, ensure safety measures are fully implemented and adhered to, liaise with the respective project manager, subcontractors, municipal building & permit departments, and complete projects within strict deadlines and budgets, coordinating the efforts of team members and subcontractors. Ensure Quality Control in all areas of the project. OPERATIONAL: Work with the Project Manager and Project Coordinators to ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope. Conduct Site Risk Assessments, and look for opportunities for avoidance. Work within the detailed project plan to track progress. Review field issues and opportunities with the Project Manager and Project Coordinator to find solutions. Ensure Management Team is aware of any problems, looping them in by e-mail when dealing with contentious issues Ensure that corporate health & safety procedures, job site security, and safety standards are implemented and followed. Ensure job reporting and documents are obtained, submitted correctly and on time. Follow up with subcontractors to make sure that job schedules are being respected and project is on track. Ensure manpower is effectively coordinated and material purchases stay in line schedule and budgets. Ensure positive communication with all persons associated with the project, both internal / external partners. Ensure timely completion of punch list work. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: 5 years+ experience in retail construction. Exceptional knowledge of construction methods and building requirements; Excellent knowledge and capacity to implement health & safety standards Excellent negotiation skills; Excellent proficiency at reading architectural plans and technical drawings; Thorough knowledge of construction standards and best practices; Leadership to drive all projects on time and on budget; Great management and communication skills with labor, sub-trades, and suppliers; Ensure our strict quality standards are always met; Applicants must have a strong background and proven experience in the construction industry. Must possess a valid driver's license. Travel across Canada is required.
