Reporting to the Manager of Technical Services or designate, the Technical Services Supervisor leads the short-range planning team (Drill & Blast, Survey, Mine Technicians and Geologists) to deliver planned quantity and quality of iron ore to the crusher safely and below budgeted cost. Main Accountabilities Ensure work procedures are followed and safety standards are adhered to (risk assessments, incident reporting & investigating, policy & procedures review, MOC, etc.) to realize zero incidents and injuries across the team. Support the work of the short-range planning team and Operations team to ensure short-range plans are achieved. Provide training, mentorship and performance feedback to team members. Prepare short-term mine plans from pit to port and assist in development of the annual Budget and forecasts to provide direction and input to short-range planning. Conduct various engineering tasks (design, production performance analysis, reporting, consumables tracking, etc.) as part of on-going continuous improvement. Work with site management in support of planning, risk assessment and change-management initiatives to identify new or evolving hazards and prioritization of countermeasures. This list is not all-inclusive. Other duties may be required. Main Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering. Registered professional or eligible for registration with Northwest Territories and Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (NAPEG). WSCC Supervisor Level II certificate. Minimum five (5) years of experience in mine planning, technical services and / or operations specific to the mining or construction industries. Supervisory experience in technical services or operations. Arctic experience is an asset. Job Location Mary River Mine Site, NU, Canada Compensation Compensation for this position is aligned with Baffinland’s approved compensation framework and current market conditions. Final compensation will be determined based on: Relevant education and certifications Related training and experience Internal equity considerations This site-based role is eligible for participation in the travel benefits, site premiums, comprehensive health and dental coverage, and pension participation.
