Job Title: Assistant Manager, Compliance Location: Markham, Ontario Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Job Summary We are seeking an experienced compliance professional to join our Compliance team as an Assistant Manager, Compliance. This role supports the Bank’s Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) framework and the management of regulatory compliance risk, excluding Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing. The successful candidate will support regulatory change management, compliance risk assessments, control documentation and monitoring, complaint handling, policy and procedure development, compliance reporting, training, and remediation activities. The role works closely with business units and control functions to ensure regulatory requirements are effectively identified, assessed, implemented, and monitored across the Bank. What You Will Do Support the Bank’s Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) program, including the identification, assessment, and ongoing monitoring of applicable regulatory requirements. Conduct regulatory gap analyses for new and amended requirements, develop implementation plans, and monitor progress through completion. Maintain and enhance compliance policies, procedures, process narratives, control matrices, and other RCM documentation. Perform control mapping and assessment, identify potential control gaps, and recommend appropriate remediation actions. Provide compliance guidance and advisory support to business units and departments on regulatory requirements, controls, and remediation activities. Handle and monitor customer complaints, including supporting regulatory reporting and escalation requirements. Collect and review periodic compliance self-assessments from business units and follow up on identified issues. Review marketing and promotional materials from a regulatory compliance perspective. Track compliance issues, findings, and remediation activities to support timely and effective closure. Support responses to internal audits, external audits, and regulatory examinations, including preparing materials, coordinating responses, and monitoring remediation commitments. Prepare periodic compliance reports, control reports, gap analyses, remediation reports, and management updates. Support the development and delivery of compliance training and maintain relevant training materials. Coordinate recurring and ad hoc compliance reporting for management and other internal stakeholders. Participate in compliance testing and monitoring activities and contribute to continuous improvements to the Bank’s compliance framework. Perform other compliance-related projects and responsibilities as assigned. What You Bring to the Table Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related discipline. 4 or more years of experience in regulatory compliance, regulatory risk, compliance testing, internal controls, or risk management, preferably within banking or financial services. Strong understanding of Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) principles and the ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical business controls. Knowledge of Canadian financial services regulatory requirements, including consumer protection and privacy requirements, is strongly preferred. Experience with regulatory change management, gap analysis, control mapping, compliance monitoring, or remediation tracking is highly desirable. Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and identify compliance risks. Strong policy and procedure writing, documentation, and report-writing skills. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with business units, management, and control functions.
