Description To lead and champion Cantonese ministry, provide the Cantonese congregation with a strong biblical foundation and the message of the Gospel. To cultivate the fruit of the Spirit in the lives of believers and nurture them with biblical truth and actions which are always honoring and pleasing to God. To provide leadership and support to the Cantonese Ministry Committee to ensure the overall Cantonese ministry is operational and carried out in alignment with God’s will and teachings, and the set vision, mission and values of ETCBC. Overview of Church and Community East Toronto Community Baptist Church (ETCBC) is a multi-cultural, multi-congregational and multi-generational community of Christian believers dedicated to worshiping God, sharing the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, and equipping believers to be disciples of Christ and to reach out to the community. The ACP will lead the Cantonese ministry of ETCBC, as it closely relates to and associates with the English, Mandarin, and NextGen ministries. Qualifications And Education Requirements Possess the following academic backgrounds in an accredited Bible College or Seminary: Obtained Bachelor degree in pastoral ministry or equivalent, and/or Master of Divinity degree or equivalent. Character: Mature and growing Christian who maintains a close relationship with God through studying the Bible, prayers, personal experience, fellowship and personal ministry. A fervent seeker of God’s heart and a faithful follower of Christ, with integrity, honesty, accountability and humility. Cultural experience: familiar with and has working experience with the dynamics of Cantonese speaking and cross-cultural context with a focus in Asian culture. Religious and denominational requirements: a committed believer of God with theological agreement with the Baptist denomination. Personality: Outgoing, friendly, approachable and adaptable. Role and Responsibilities Vision and strategic planning: Building on the existing structure and foundation, carry out strategic planning to formulate and grow the overall vision, mission and values of Cantonese ministry for the next 5 to 10 years, according to the teachings of the Lord. Effectively communicate strategic plans to promote congregational understanding, and to inspire participation and commitment. Oversee growth and operation of Cantonese ministry in alignment with strategic plans. Preaching and Teaching: Serve as a primary preaching pastor of the Cantonese worship services. Serve as a resource for discipleship ministry Lead and/or assist the development and ongoing updates of Christian education programs for Sunday School, fellowship and small groups. Caring and Discipleship (increasing the spiritual vitality of the congregation): Build personal relationships with and provide pastoral care to Cantonese Ministry Committee members, lay leaders and congregants. Provide the needed resources and support to leaders, volunteers and congregants. Leadership Development: Recruit, train and mentor Cantonese congregants to become lay leaders - including, but not limited to, Sunday School teachers, small group leaders, Cantonese Ministry Committee, Executive Council and Deacon Council members. Coordination and facilitation: Maintain ongoing communication with other pastors, church staff, CMC, Missions Committee, ETCBC Executive Council and ETCBC Deacon Council so as to promote church-wide awareness of ministry activities, events and developments. Help coordinate, facilitate, and plan cross-congregational ministries where beneficial for promoting church unity. Communicate and promote ministry activities, events and developments to the Cantonese congregation. Other ministry duties and responsibilities – at times in order to meet ministry needs, the employee may be asked and required to carry out roles and responsibilities other than what is listed above, as asked and directed by the reporting supervisor. Preferred Skills Minimum 3+ years of experience as a pastor in Cantonese ministry, preferably in a North America Christian church. A self-starter and team player, capable of working with peers and people of different ages, from different ethnic groups, of different personality and character. Possess strong verbal and written communication skills in Chinese. Fluent in listening and speaking Cantonese. Comfortable working and communicating with Mandarin and English speakers. Willingness to learn, capable to teach and preach, Strong administration, organization and time management skills. Experience in working with different age groups of leaders, co-workers and congregations. Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's or Master of Divinity degree from an accredited Bible College or Seminary and at least 3 years of pastoral experience in Cantonese ministry. Candidates must be fluent in Cantonese and possess a strong theological alignment with the Baptist denomination.
