Position Summary We are looking for an Occupational Therapist for the SET-BC program to join our Therapy Services Team. Therapy Services at the BC Centre for Ability includes the Provincial Outreach Therapy Program, the Early Intervention Therapy Program, the North Shore School Occupational Therapy Program, the Community Brain Injury Program, and SET-BC. The role of the SET-BC OT is to work with SET-BC staff to provide specialised OT services, supports and resources to SET-BC staff and OTs working within school age therapy programs across BC. The SET-BC OT will be based out of the SET-BC office in Vancouver. Responsibilities * Collaborate and consult with SET-BC staff and school teams to identify and plan for technology solutions, specifically around physical access, positioning and mounting supports * Contribute to SET-BC Provincial Information and Training resources to help build district and program capacity to utilize assistive technology with students with significant and diverse learning needs, focusing on those with physical access challenges. * Prepare and deliver materials for online and/or in-person training sessions and/or workshops for school district staff and school age therapists * Evaluate new access technology products * Use Evidence Based Practice to guide decision making when developing goals * Maintain up to date records in order to assess outcomes and meet agency and regulatory body requirements Qualifications Education, Training and Experience * Master's degree or equivalent in OT or Rehabilitation Medicine (OT) * Previous experience working in pediatrics * Experience with assistive technology is preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES * Experience with assistive technology is preferred * Collaborates with clients using the F-words of childhood development framework and a commitment to inclusive practice and family centered care * Practices occupational therapy using the People, Environment, Occupation model to optimize participation * Proven collaboration, communication and consultation skills * Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Proven organization and time management skills are required * Ability to adapt to change and embrace new technology * Competency using a virtual platform, electronic client record system and word processing software WORKING CONDITIONS & PROVISOS * Must be registered with CHCPBC (includes Criminal Record Check) * Valid BC driver’s license with reliable use of a car for work with business insurance * Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position * Travel is required both locally and within BC * Scheduled vacations may coincide with school vacations, with SET-BC admin approval Benefits & perks: Our workplace culture embraces Hope, Kindness, Collaboration, Innovation and Family. Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy or Rehabilitation Medicine and be registered with CHCPBC. Previous experience in pediatrics and familiarity with assistive technology are preferred.
