Job title: RDL Jump Host Administrator Location: Toronto, ON Contract - Hybrid $50 - $60/hr depending on experience We are seeking an experienced RDL Jump Host Administrator to manage the administration, security, hardening, and access controls of Linux-based jump hosts supporting isolated and air-gapped Research & Development environments. This is a highly security-focused role requiring strong experience across Linux administration, networking, access management, virtualization, and compliance. Key Responsibilities Administer, configure, patch, monitor, and maintain Linux-based jump hosts. Harden Linux systems in accordance with CIS benchmarks and security policies. Manage RHEL, Rocky Linux, CentOS, and/or Ubuntu environments. Configure and maintain SSH, PAM, RBAC, local authentication, and SSH key management. Manage local Unix/Linux accounts and access controls in environments without Active Directory or domain joins. Support secure remote access through Zscaler ZTNA and CyberArk vPAM. Configure SSH session controls, authentication policies, idle timeouts, and session termination. Implement secure audit logging and compliance controls using technologies such as Rsyslog and Journald. Support mandatory access, NDA, and export-control acceptance mechanisms. Troubleshoot Linux, authentication, SSH, networking, and connectivity issues. Collaborate with network and security teams on VLANs, firewalls, routing, VPNs, and secure access pathways. Administer virtual machines within VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter and/or Microsoft Hyper-V environments. Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, access records, and audit evidence. Required Qualifications 4+ years of Linux system administration experience, preferably in secure, hardened, regulated, or compliance-driven environments. Advanced Linux administration experience with RHEL, Rocky Linux, CentOS, and/or Ubuntu. Strong knowledge of SSH/sshd, PAM, RBAC, local authentication, Linux user management, and SSH keys. Strong Bash and/or Python scripting skills. Experience with Linux security hardening and compliance auditing. Experience with VMware ESXi/vCenter/vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper-V. Advanced networking knowledge including VPNs, routing, firewalls, VLANs, and connectivity troubleshooting. Experience with secure logging and audit-trail implementation. Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills. Nice-to-Have Zscaler ZTNA / App Connectors CyberArk vPAM CIS Linux hardening Rsyslog / Journald Secure or write-only log forwarding Air-gapped or isolated environments Export-control or regulatory compliance environments RHCSA / RHCE CompTIA Linux+ / Security+ LFCS CyberArk certifications What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is a hands-on Linux professional who understands that security and access control are as important as system availability. You should be comfortable working in highly controlled environments, troubleshooting complex Linux and networking issues, and maintaining strict compliance and audit requirements.
