Job details

Currently seeking CSIA Level 1 and above instructors who are available part time for the winter season (approximately the beginning of December until early April). Expected commitment is multiple days during holiday periods and either Saturday or Sunday throughout the majority of the season. Flexible availability is considered an asset. Possessing dual certification, equipment and willingness to teach both skiing and snowboarding is considered an asset. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Deliver ski lessons following CSIA and Big White Ski & Board School’s teaching methodology. * Develop lesson content to create a safe and fun learning experience to children aged 3-12. * Evaluate lesson participants and complete achievement records. * Act with diligence to safeguard guests and fellow workers whenever applicable. * Demonstrate effective problem solving as required. * Embrace the KC motto of "safety + fun = more fun" when interacting with internal and external customers to create a memorable alpine experience. * Work cooperatively and maintain open communication with Big White staff. * Take appropriate action to deal with incidents and emergencies as per company procedures. POSITION REQUIREMENTS * Minimum of Level CSIA level 1 (or the international equivalent) and above is strongly preferred. * Experience working with children in an organized setting is preferred (e.g. ski school, summer camps etc.) * All applicants should submit a cover letter and resume with two contactable references, and include a copy of any relevant current certifications. Preference will be given to those who also have: * Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors (CASI) certifications * CSIA Snowpark or Canadian Freestyle Ski Association (CFSA) certifications CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS All employees are subject to criminal record checks at Big White Ski Resort. It is the responsibility of the employee to provide a current criminal record check. WAGE Base wage is $20. Wage increases are based on relevant instructing certifications and time-based accruals. PHYSICAL DEMANDS * Ability to carry 40lbs/18kg while skiing/riding * Ability to assist a fallen skier/snowboarder back onto their feet * Ability to lift 40lbs/18kg * Ability to ski/ride for 6-7 hours a day PLEASE NOTE: All employment offers to foreign nationals are conditional upon individuals obtaining their own valid working holiday visas for the coming winter season.
