Bingemans is in the business of providing Grand Experiences! As a Second Cook in the Pastry/Bakeshop department, you will support the production of pastries, baked goods, desserts, and breads for on-site and off-site events. This role is well suited to a developing pastry cook who is eager to strengthen their technical skills, work with a variety of products, and grow within a professional, high-volume kitchen. What will you be doing? * Prepare and produce pastries, cakes, pies, muffins, cookies, tarts, brioche, breads, and other baked goods. * Assist with the preparation, portioning, garnishing, and presentation of banquet desserts. * Follow standardized recipes, production sheets, and established quality standards. * Measure and scale ingredients accurately. * Support daily production planning based on event forecasts and operational requirements. * Assist with buffet, dessert station, and event setup. * Maintain consistent portion sizes, product quality, and presentation. * Prepare and organize mise en place for daily production. * Properly label, date, store, and rotate ingredients and finished products. * Operate pastry and bakeshop equipment safely and appropriately. * Assist with inventory, receiving, waste reduction, and product rotation. * Communicate with the pastry team and catering chefs regarding production needs and event requirements. * Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and sanitary workstation. * Report equipment issues, product shortages, and quality concerns to the appropriate supervisor. * Work collaboratively with the broader culinary team in a fast-paced catering environment. * Develop knowledge of pastry techniques, baking equipment, and related kitchen duties. What we're looking for * Culinary diploma, baking certificate, apprenticeship training, or equivalent experience. * Previous experience in a pastry, baking, catering, hotel, restaurant, or high-volume food production environment is an asset. * Basic knowledge of pastry and baking methods. * Strong attention to detail and an interest in pastry arts. * Ability to accurately follow recipes and production instructions. * Good communication, organization, and teamwork skills. * Willingness to learn, take direction, and develop new technical skills. * Food Handler Certification. * Ability to work independently while contributing to a team. * Reliable transportation is an asset. * Availability to work flexible shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional split shifts. * Ability to stand and work for extended periods, including shifts of eight hours or more. * Ability to lift and transport supplies and finished products weighing up to 50 pounds. * Ability to work in hot, cold, and occasionally humid kitchen environments. * Ability to safely bend, reach, lift, and move throughout the bakeshop and production kitchen.
