Staff Lawyer, CivPro & Estates Location: Ontario Our client Is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to improving access to justice for low-income Ontarians. Responsibilities Answer Hotline calls and provide summary legal advice on wills and estates, estate administration, powers of attorney, capacity, guardianship, and related court processes. Provide document assistance and help callers understand practical next steps in their legal matters. Stay current on developments in estates law, substitute decision-making, capacity, guardianship, and professional responsibility, and share relevant updates with staff. Contribute to volunteer recruitment and engagement, including presentations and in-person support at firm events. Qualifications Licensed lawyer in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. Minimum 3 years of relevant legal practice experience. Strong working knowledge of Ontario law relating to wills and estates, estate administration, powers of attorney, substitute decision-making, capacity, and guardianship. Experience in civil litigation, Small Claims Court, housing, consumer law, employment law, corporate law, or related areas is an asset. Experience providing practical legal advice to vulnerable clients or clients facing barriers to legal assistance. Prior experience with Salesforce or another CRM is a significant asset.
