The responsibilities outlined below are representative of the role and may vary based on level. The successful candidate will oversee BMO Capital Markets' Energy portfolio across both Canada and the United States, serving as a key partner to clients and internal stakeholders throughout North America. Given the cross-border nature of the portfolio, the role will require frequent travel to Houston to support client coverage, relationship development, and business growth initiatives. Provides treasury products solutions, advice and expertise tailored to the specific needs of corporate, institutional, and government clients across the globe to manage their cash-flow and capital. Includes access to information, streamlined receivables and payables process, optimizing investments and deposits, correspondent banking, interest rate derivatives, corporate card and spend solutions. Uses expertise in financial markets to cultivate relationships with new and existing clients and develop new client relationships. Delivers reliable activities in instituting cross-selling initiatives to clients across all areas of the firm and transitioning them into sales. Provides deal structuring expertise and additional expertise as knowledge base and needs dictate. Negotiates transactions with clients on highly complex matters. Identifies issues, gaps and process improvements through open communication both internally and with other bank areas, and through the monitoring of productivity against benchmarks. Grows/elevates the BMO and BMO Capital Market brand with a commitment to and presence in the community. Participates in industry forums and conferences to keep apprised of all industry trends, competitive insights, products and services. Develops and maintains strong client relationships at all levels. Interprets client strategy, anticipates changes in client needs and provides strategic/creative solutions. Recognizes opportunities to cross-sell and to grow share of clients' wallet. Develops and/or facilitates development of client-focused solutions based on financial expertise, organizational, technical, regulatory and environmental client awareness. Distills market and internal data to negotiate solutions, terms and conditions with clients / internal counterparts. Acts timely, efficiently and independently, taking ownership of client satisfaction. Serves as a daily escalation resource to ensure client expectations are met or exceeded. Identifies and delivers on opportunities to improve the client experience; brings in partners where appropriate; delivers a full BMO experience. Provides strategic input into business decisions as a trusted advisor. Makes recommendations to senior leaders on strategy and new initiatives, based on an in-depth understanding of the business/group. Acts as a subject matter expert on relevant regulations and policies. Manages resources and leads the execution of strategic initiatives to deliver on business and financial goals. Develops and leverages relationships across LOBs, with executive and external clients to foster and support coordination. Ensures alignment between stakeholders. Acts as the prime subject matter expert for internal/external stakeholders. Analyzes financial and related data to determine the needs of the client for proper structuring of the Bank's products and services. Applies appropriate technical concepts and completes/leads consistent and reliable technical and financial reports/analyses to support client deliverables. Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations. Monitors and tracks performance, and addresses any issues as per policies and procedures. Defines business requirements for analytics & reporting to ensure data insights inform business decision making. Leads in defining the communication plan designed to positively influence or change behaviour; develops tailored messaging; and identifies appropriate distribution channels. Identifies and acts on the delivery of meaningful revenue, cost reduction or capital optimization opportunities. Makes decisions based on a strong understanding of risks effectively evaluates risk-return trade-offs, and proactively takes accountability for risks assumed. Considers risk, internal controls and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities and adheres to policies and procedures. Reviews the program for effectiveness, considers industry trends and recommends enhancements; makes changes as required. Reviews and guides work of team members to deliver business results. Achieves sales and other targets established by business plans. Optimizes opportunities through deal teams and sales calls, maximizing business success. Considers risk, internal controls and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities and adheres to policies and procedures. Continuously assesses and improves the work processes for sales and service management, risk management and compliance within prescribed limits to maximize effectiveness and efficiency. Influences the strategic direction of the line of business. Collaborates in initiative development and implementation of business, technology, sales and service, channel and product optimization and enhanced customer experience. Operates at a group/enterprise-wide level and serves as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders. Qualifications: Typically 7+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Deal execution and/or project management skills - ability to manage more than one client / major initiative - Expert. Market and product knowledge to enable the comprehensive servicing of clients and the effective development of new solutions - Expert. Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge. Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth / Expert. Able to manage ambiguity. Data driven decision making - In-depth / Expert. Hybrid Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of four (4) days per week in the office. Candidates should be comfortable working regularly from our Calgary office. Salary: The salary range for this role is $120,000 to $165,000 CAD. Compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills, experience, education, qualifications, and the level at which they are hired (Vice President or Director). Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked.
