The Heavy Equipment Technician – 2nd Year Apprentice supports the inspection, maintenance, and repair of trucks, trailers and construction equipment. Working under the guide of experienced technicians, this role helps keep our fleet operating safely and reliably throughout the construction season. This position is primarily shop based, with opportunities to assist in the field when required. Job Responsibilities Assist inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of truck, trailer combinations and various off road equipment including compaction equipment, dozers, excavators, graders, loaders and paving equipment Support troubleshooting of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems Perform preventative maintenance and assist with repairs and breakdowns Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation Assist in field service work when required, including occasional overnight travel Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a safe work environment Work overtime and weekends during the construction season as required Qualifications Registered 2nd Year Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice (or equivalent) Some mechanical knowledge with a willingness to learn and develop skills Interest in electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems Basic welding knowledge and skills is an asset Valid Class 5 Driver's License with clean abstract (Valid Class 1 License is an asset) Strong work ethic, reliability and attention to detail Ability to work independently as well as part of a team What We Offer Competitive wages based on experience Benefits Profit sharing Company Share Ownership Program Ongoing training and development Opportunities for advancement Steady work during the construction season Many of our leaders started in field or entry level roles and we believe strongly in promoting from within.
