Job summary

Ideal Gear & Machine Works, a division of Boundary Mining Group, is looking for an experienced Programmer or multi-axis experienced Journeyman Machinist! Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Machinist will be responsible for running a variety of CNC & multi-axis machines. Ideal Gear is part of the Boundary Mining Group of Companies, which designs and manufactures reliable aftermarket components for the open pit mining industry. Ideal Gear has been in business for over a hundred years. As leaders in the gearing and machining space, they service various industries inculding marine, aggregate, mining, oil and gas, and pulp and paper. Key Responsibilities: Primary focus will be on running multi-axis mill-turn machining centres. Programming multi-axis mill-turn machining centres using GibbsCam. Set up and run various CNC lathes and mills. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables. Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances. Maintain personal inspection quality. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Maintain required paperwork and notations. Qualifications: Red Seal Machinist trade certification is considered an asset. Proficiency with multi-axis machine programming. Experience with multi-axis mill-turn machines and CNC lathes & milling machines. Experience with measuring tools such as gauges, micrometers, and verniers. Experience operating & programming WFL and Okuma machines is considered an asset. Skills & Abilities: Ability to work efficiently and keep a high attention to detail while prioritizing multiple tasks. Self-starter, problem-solver, curious, and asks questions in order to learn and support continuous improvement. Strong interpersonal skills, and able to work both individually and in a team environment. Dependable and consistent in punctuality, attendance, and quality workmanship. Working Conditions: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 2:15 pm, flexible start time once fully trained. General manufacturing shop specializing in manufacturing of industrial gearing and components. Able to lift up to 50 pounds. Fast-paced environment requiring high attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines. Standing for extended periods of time.
