Contractor to work extra time or on-call: No Enhanced Reliability Status: not required Role Description: The Senior Network Migration & Application Connectivity Engineer is responsible for enabling the successful migration, modernization, and ongoing operation of business applications across on-premises and cloud environments. This role serves as a trusted technical partner to application, infrastructure, security, identity, and cloud teams, ensuring that network dependencies, connectivity requirements, and non-functional requirements are identified, designed, validated, and operationalized throughout the project lifecycle. The role combines deep technical expertise in enterprise networking with strong consulting, troubleshooting, and stakeholder management skills. The successful candidate will provide white-glove support for critical migration activities, helping project teams identify and resolve network, security, and identity-related issues that may impact application availability, performance, resiliency, or user experience. Responsibilities: Application Discovery & Dependency Mapping Lead network flow discovery and traffic analysis activities to identify application communication patterns and dependencies. Assess east-west and north-south traffic flows across data centers, cloud environments, and third-party connectivity. Develop and maintain application dependency maps, connectivity matrices, and migration runbooks. Partner with application owners, architects, and infrastructure teams to validate connectivity requirements and identify migration risks. Establish baseline network behavior and ensure dependencies are understood prior to migration events. Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) Facilitate the definition and validation of network-related non-functional requirements. Ensure resiliency, availability, performance, latency, scalability, recoverability, and operational support requirements are identified and documented. Participate in architecture reviews to validate that proposed designs meet business and technical objectives. Identify potential network bottlenecks, single points of failure, and operational risks before implementation. Network & Security Architecture Design Design and evolve connectivity architectures supporting application modernization and migration initiatives. Define required modifications to network services and infrastructure, including: DNS and IP Address Management (IPAM) Routing and network segmentation Firewall policy design and rule optimization Web Application Firewall (WAF) integration Load balancing and traffic distribution Internet and partner connectivity Cloud networking and hybrid connectivity Network resiliency and disaster recovery architectures Collaborate with security architecture and engineering teams to ensure designs align with enterprise security standards and Zero Trust principles. Provide technical leadership during solution design workshops and architecture reviews. Migration Execution & White-Glove Support Act as a dedicated technical resource during critical application migration and cutover activities. Provide hands-on support to application, infrastructure, cloud, and identity teams throughout migration events. Troubleshoot and resolve complex connectivity, name resolution, authentication, authorization, and application access issues. Identify gaps in network, security, and identity readiness and drive remediation activities to closure. Support migration readiness reviews, go/no-go decisions, and post-migration validation activities. Coordinate incident resolution across multiple technology teams when issues arise during migration windows. Operational Excellence Develop standards, patterns, and repeatable migration methodologies. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, observability, and operational efficiency. Participate in root cause analysis and problem management activities following major incidents or migration events. Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, implementation procedures, and operational runbooks. Provide technical mentorship and guidance to project teams and junior engineers. Experience/Skills: The successful candidate will be expected to work across a complex hybrid enterprise environment including: Network & Security Platforms Cisco ACI Check Point Firewalls Palo Alto Networks Firewalls F5 Load Balancing and Application Delivery Cloudflare Services Infoblox DNS, DHCP & IPAM Cloud Platforms Microsoft Azure Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure Multi-data center environments Hybrid cloud architectures Enterprise compute and virtualization platforms Identity and access management services Internet-facing and internally hosted application platforms Required Qualifications 7+ years of experience in enterprise network engineering, infrastructure engineering, or network architecture. Proven experience supporting complex application migrations, data center transformations, or cloud migration initiatives. Strong understanding of application networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, routing, load balancing, firewalls, and application delivery. Experience troubleshooting application connectivity, authentication, authorization, and performance issues across hybrid environments. Experience designing and implementing resilient network and security architectures. Strong knowledge of cloud networking within Azure and/or AWS. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work directly with application owners, architects, and business stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Experience with large-scale enterprise migration programs. Experience with Zero Trust network architectures. Knowledge of identity platforms and authentication technologies. Experience with network automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), or DevOps practices. Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, PCNSE, Azure Networking, AWS Advanced Networking, or equivalent. Success Measures Success in this role is measured by: Successful delivery of application migration and modernization initiatives. Reduction of migration-related incidents and unplanned outages. Accurate identification of application dependencies and connectivity requirements. Improved resiliency, performance, and operational readiness of migrated applications. Requirements
