Drupal to React Developer 3 month contract Remote - EST Specific Responsibilities and Activities Review and analyze the existing Drupal website, codebase, templates, components, and content structures. Understand how the existing Drupal application functions and identify the key functionality that needs to be retained or improved. Convert the existing Drupal-based website and front-end functionality into a modern React application. Develop clean, reusable, and maintainable React components and front-end architecture. Clean up and modernize the existing website, addressing outdated, inconsistent, or poorly structured code and user experiences. Translate Drupal templates, themes, and functionality into appropriate React components and application structures. Work with existing Drupal APIs, content models, integrations, and data structures as required. Ensure the React implementation maintains or improves existing website functionality, responsiveness, accessibility, and performance. Identify opportunities to simplify and improve the existing architecture rather than performing a direct 1:1 conversion. Troubleshoot technical issues and resolve challenges associated with the Drupal-to-React migration. Collaborate with project stakeholders and other developers to determine migration priorities and technical requirements. Document key technical decisions and ensure the resulting React codebase is scalable and maintainable. Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience. Strong hands-on experience with React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript development. Strong professional experience working with Drupal. Demonstrated ability to understand and work within an existing Drupal codebase. Experience converting or modernizing existing websites or applications using React. Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive web development. Experience developing reusable React components and maintaining clean front-end architecture. Assets / Nice-to-Have Qualifications Experience with Drupal-to-React migrations. Experience with headless Drupal implementations. Experience with Drupal REST APIs or GraphQL. Experience with Next.js or other modern React frameworks. Experience working with legacy, outdated, or poorly structured codebases. Experience with component libraries and design systems. Knowledge of web accessibility and performance optimization. Experience with Git/GitHub and modern development workflows. Competency Profile Expert-level knowledge of React and modern front-end development practices. Strong understanding of Drupal architecture, themes, templates, content structures, and APIs. Ability to quickly understand and reverse-engineer an existing application and codebase. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to distinguish between functionality that should be retained, improved, simplified, or rebuilt. Strong attention to code quality, maintainability, and scalability. Ability to take a messy or outdated website and turn it into a clean, well-structured React application. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical decisions and deliverables.
