We are seeking a full-time Health & Safety Officer to support day-to-day Health and Safety activities within a busy manufacturing facility. This environment combines traditional manufacturing operations with construction-related work and potential associated hazards, including working at heights, mobile equipment, material handling, machinery, hot work, electrical work, and contractor activities. The successful candidate will be visible on the floor, build strong relationships with Employees and Supervisors, and take a practical and proactive approach to identifying hazards and resolving concerns. The Health & Safety Officer plays a key part in enforcing and maintaining a safe work environment for all parties by executing safety programs, completing documentation, supporting investigations, and reinforcing day-to-day safety practices in our ABIC Factory. This role is well suited to someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can balance compliance requirements with operational needs. Why Caivan? Industry Leading Wages Annual Paid Operations Shutdown (in addition to Paid Vacation Days) Complimentary Daily Lunch Program Company-Paid Health & Dental Coverage Coordinating Benefits Life Insurance where applicable Group Benefits & Perks (including Goodlife & Bell Mobile) Use of ADP (HR Portal) – easily access your employee information, paystubs & schedule time off Bi-Weekly Payments directly to your bank account Key Responsibilities Site Inspections & Hazard Mitigation * Conduct routine safety inspections, identifying hazards and ensuring corrective actions * Ensure high-quality documentation by maintaining accurate records and organizing files in a way that supports easy access, transparency, and compliance * Participate in hazard assessments, job safety analyses and the development of safe work procedures * Maintain accurate records for inspections, follow-ups, and action items * Engage with Supervisors and Employees to reinforce safe work practices and address issues promptly * Monitor compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable regulations, including Ontario’s Industrial Establishments and Construction Projects regulations Incident Reporting & Investigations * Document incidents, near-misses, and hazards * Support incident investigations by gathering information, conducting interviews, and assisting with root cause analysis * Follow up on preventative and corrective action completion Training & Orientation Support * Conduct or support new worker orientations, Toolbox Talks, and safety training sessions * Track worker and trade certifications in compliance with Caivan and regulatory requirements JHSC Participation * Attend JHSC (Joint Health & Safety Committee) meetings as required and provide updates on site safety activities * Prepare agendas, action items, and follow-up reports as assigned Regulatory Support * Participate in MOL visits, support documentation requests, and assist with follow-ups on orders * Ensure site readiness for regulatory inspections Emergency Preparedness * Conduct regular emergency drills and ensure first aid supplies and safety boards are maintained. * Support ongoing improvement of emergency response procedures Collaboration & Communication * Track safety trends and provide clear reports and recommendations to facility leadership. * Work closely with Construction Teams and the Director to ensure timely communication of hazards, incidents, and training needs. * Participate in regular safety meetings and briefings Skills & Knowledge * 3–5 years of Occupational health and safety experience with NCSO, CRST or equivalent health and safety designation is preferred. * Strong knowledge of OHSA and relevant safety legislation * A minimum of 3 years of relevant Health & Safety experience in manufacturing, construction or a similarly complex industrial environment * Experience conducting orientations, inspections, and safety audits * Ability to identify hazards, influence & enforce safe work practices * Strong leadership, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills * Familiarity with machine guarding, lockout/tagout, working at heights, mobile equipment, material handling and contractor management * Proficiency in MS Word and Excel * Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and ability to travel between the office and job sites * JHSC - Levels 1 & 2 * CPR/First Aid certification required Working Conditions * Majority of time is spent on construction sites & in our ABIC Factory * PPE is required at all times in field settings * Work may involve exposure to weather, noise, dust, and high-risk activities We carefully review all applications and will contact candidates whose skills, experience, and qualifications most closely align with the requirements of the position. Requirements

Candidates must have 3–5 years of construction safety experience, along with NSCO Designation or Gold Seal Certification. Proficiency in OHSA legislation, strong documentation skills, and valid certifications in First Aid/CPR and JHSC Levels 1 & 2 are required.
