Your Opportunity: The Senior Analyst, Energy Markets provides expert analysis and market insight to support Capital Power’s investment, asset management, commercial, and trading decisions. This role is accountable for market fundamentals, electricity price forecasts, asset gross margin projections, and strategic market assessments across assigned North American power markets. The Senior Specialist leads market assumptions development across teams, directs consultant/internal work, and delivers clear, decision‑ready recommendations to senior leadership You Will Contribute to Our Team By :Owning long‑term fundamental power market forecasts (energy, capacity, ancillary services, and environmental products) for assigned regions .Reviewing, developing, and defending key market assumptions including supply, demand, fuel prices, emissions pricing, policy impacts, and cost of new entry (CONE) .Supporting asset‑level gross margin projections, dispatch modeling, and financial proformas to support budgeting, long‑term planning, and project valuations .Supporting business development and expansion initiatives by delivering price forecasts, dispatch analysis, and due diligence assessments for new investments .Providing strategic market insights to Commercial and Supply & Trading teams to support origination, hedging, and contracting strategies .Coordinating work across internal teams, managing external consultants, including scope definition, assumption review, quality control, and interpretation of results .Preparing and delivering presentations and briefings to cross-functional teams, senior management and executive teams on market outlooks, risks, and opportunities .Monitoring regulatory, policy, and market design developments, assessing their commercial, financial impacts and incorporating their implications into price projections .Designing and implementing market dashboards for consumption across the company . What You Will Bring to the Rol e: Education & Experie nceDegree in Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Commer ce.Master’s degree or professional designation (or progress toward one) is an ass et.5+ years of experience in North American power and gas marke ts.Demonstrated experience forecasting wholesale fundamental electricity prices and asset revenu es.Proven ability to translate complex market dynamics into actionable business recommendatio ns.Technical & Professional Ski llsStrong understanding of power market structures and regulatory framewor ks.Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and exercise sound judgme nt.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive‑level presentatio ns.Advanced quantitative and financial modeling skills (CONE, LCOE, dispatch, gross marg in)Proficiency in Excel, Python and data analysis tools; exposure to market models is an ass et.
