Our purpose is to elevate chiropractic care in Alberta. The Association provides leadership on chiropractic care. We do this by: Providing members with business resources, clinic resources, insurance support and more Advocate with the provincial government on matters that advance and sustain the profession Collaborate with other health profession organizations in the advancement of patient care Represent the profession in key discussions with insurance providers and the WCB Promote the awareness of and benefit of chiropractic treatments Educate the public on chiropractic care and good health The Position Location: Work remotely in Alberta Reporting to the CEO, this position supports our bookkeeping through maintaining our financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts and payments. Bookkeeper job duties include working with our CEO to create and analyze financial reports and ensure legal requirements compliance, process accounts payable and receivable and manage invoices and payroll tax payments. Our ideal candidate holds a Finance degree (preferably followed by accounting CPE courses; equivalencies will be considered) and is familiar with accounting software packages such as QuickBooks, RBC Express and Stripe. Ultimately, the Bookkeeper’s responsibilities are to accurately record all day-to-day financial transactions of our Association. Education and Experience 3-5 years experience in full-cycle accounting Proven bookkeeping experience Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software Proficiency in English and in MS Office Customer service orientation and negotiation skills High degree of accuracy and attention to detail Diploma or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field General understanding of computerized accounting systems Prior not-for-profit accounting experience is an asset Responsibilities and Activities Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct ledger Reconcile the general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries monthly Bring the books to the trial balance stage Perform partial checks of the posting process Complete tax forms Enter data, maintain records and create reports and financial statements Process accounts receivable/payable and handle payroll in a timely manner Supervise accounts payable and receivable functions Process expenses and reimbursements as per the company travel policy and procedures Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, deferred revenue schedules and other control accounts critical for the accuracy of financial statements Month-end financial reporting Year-end financial statements Work closely with the Member Services Manager, ensuring all member financial records and transactions are correctly recorded and integrated from the member management software to accounting software Perform various financial analyses as directed by the CEO Perform other accounting duties as assigned by the CEO Perform related duties such as maintaining filing and record systems Identify opportunities for efficiencies and improvements Record intercompany transactions Support external auditors with the annual audit Additional Skills & Attributes Excellent organizational and time management skills Strong interpersonal and client relationship skills Ability to work in a collaborative and self-directed manner Strong analytical capability with excellent attention to detail Demonstrated commitment to high-quality work Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment Outcomes oriented Strategic thinker The Why This is your opportunity to come and work in a start-up environment, with a fun and fast-paced attitude.
