As the Transit Technology Engineer, you will take an active role in developing key technology initiatives for Calgary Transit (CT). Supporting projects, system upgrades, and maintenance will require engaging interested parties, approaching vendors, ensuring alignment with existing projects, and partnering with technical resources. Primary duties include: Developing, designing, scheduling and administering transportation projects. Investigating technologies and their impact to ensure they support the goals of Calgary Transit. Designing functional requirements that will accommodate the needs and requirements of the Transit Service Vehicles division. Developing plans and Requests for Proposal (RFP) to support the various stages of the project, its design and implementation. Actively deploying and testing versions of new technology in relationship with the services being provided and their impact on the Transit Service Vehicles division. Integrating information flows into the operation to provide the necessary support and data for analysis of the new technology. Respond to requests for information regarding services provided by Calgary Transit. Qualifications A degree in Engineering and at least 4 years of relevant professional engineering experience in Information Technology (IT) and Communications obtained after receiving your P. Eng. Designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work Click here for more details. Experience with Intelligent Transportation Systems including Energy Management System of Battery Electric Buses, Computer Aided Dispatch/Automatic Vehicle Location (CAD/AVL) System, Onboard Camera Systems, Automatic Passenger Counter, Real Time Passenger Information Systems, and transit operations is considered an asset. Experience in Charge Management Systems for the charging infrastructure and Battery Electric Buses (BEB) connections is an asset. Previous education in Project Management, Information Technology, Communications, Data Integration or Purchasing is an asset. Strong communication skills, knowledge of engineering technology alongside the ability to demonstrate problem assessment and analysis skills. Pre-employment Requirements A security clearance will be conducted. Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Workstyle This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Requirements

Requires an Engineering degree and at least 4 years of professional IT and Communications experience post-P.Eng designation, with current APEGA licensure. Experience with Intelligent Transportation Systems and Battery Electric Bus infrastructure is considered an asset.
