SUMMARY OF DUTIES Under the supervision of the Supervisor, Gym/Club Programming, the Youth Facilitator supports the engagement and participation of youth aged 12-17 within recreation facilities and programs. Plans, organizes and supports recreational and outdoor programs for youth, acts as a liaison between youth and recreation facility staff and supports the delivery of youth training, special events and other initiatives. GENERAL DUTIES Assists in the implementation and coordination of recreational and outdoor programs, initiatives, training and special events for youth. Supports the successful participation and engagement n of youth from diverse backgrounds within recreation facilities, programs and activities, including newcomers and youth who may require additional supports or accommodations. Leads and/or supports specialized programs and courses for youth development (ie. leadership programs) and youth events. Builds positive relationships with youth in recreation facilities and programs; supports the creation of welcome, inclusive and youth-friendly environments. Acts as a liaison between youth and recreation facility staff, helping to identify youth needs, interests, concerns and opportunities for increased engagement. Engages with youth to identify interests, programming needs and opportunities for new or enhanced recreation programs and initiatives. Completes required daily and weekly reporting related to youth engagement, participation and program activities. Maintains a safe environment for all participants during all program activities or offsite trips or walks. Assists with identifying youth requiring targeted referrals for mental health, family, school, or behaviour supports. Performs other duties as assigned which are directly related to the major responsibilities of the position. QUALIFICATIONS Previous experience working with youth aged 12-17. Demonstrated knowledge of youth development, youth engagement and/or community supports. Demonstrated skills in youth engagement, recreation leadership, crafts, music, sports, special needs, games, arts, drama or related program delivery. Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form. Must possess and maintain current certification in “Intermediate” First Aid with CPR Level “C”. (This must be clearly identified on your resume.) All “Intermediate” First Aid certificates must be issued by a training agency recognized by the Workplace Safety Insurance Board (WSIB). Please refer to the WSIB website www.wsib.on.ca for approved providers. At time of assessment (which could be as early as days after the posting closes), you will be asked to provide “proof” that you possess the required certificate(s). Candidates with existing certifications in Standard First Aid with CPR Level “C” remain valid until expiration. High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development Certificate is an asset. Non-violent Crisis Prevention Intervention (NVCI) certification is an asset. Safe Talk training or Mental Health first aid certification is an asset. Commitment to this position will include staff training, staff meetings and increased hours during peak programming periods. HOURS: 0 – 24 per week NOTE: This position may be scheduled to work up to 44 hrs/wk during Camp Kidaca weekly programs (winter/March break, summer months). Requirements

Requires experience working with youth aged 12–17, knowledge of youth mental health or community supports, and current Standard First Aid with CPR Level C certification. Effective oral and written communication is required; High Five, NVCI, SafeTALK, and Mental Health First Aid certifications are assets.
