Build a Future at the City of Surrey.Employment Status Non-Union Instructor - AuxiliaryHourly Rate Coed Hockey League Referee - $42.30 / High School Hockey League Referee - $50.73SCOPEThe City of Surrey Arena Operations is currently looking for Ice Hockey Referees for our City of Surrey Hockey Leagues. We are looking for professional, reliable, and responsible referees with experience officiating adult and minor hockey. Referees are responsible for officiating games fairly, respectfully, and consistently, ensuring player safety, and enforcing the rules and regulations set out by the league coordinator.We are seeking referees who are available Monday to Friday from 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to officiate our Surrey High School Hockey League, and Saturdays between 12:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.RESPONSIBILITIES Arrives 15 minutes before scheduled game time in full uniform and protective equipment. Officiates hockey games in accordance with league rules and regulations. Ensures participant safety through game management, rule enforcement, and pre- and post-game safety checks. Communicates clearly and professionally with players, coaches, scorekeepers, and arena staff. Assesses penalties and maintains accurate records of infractions and game incidents. Coordinates with arena staff to ensure games start and end on schedule. Completes and submits required game reports promptly.QUALIFICATIONS Hockey Canada Officiating Program - Level 2 or higher. 2 years of experience officiating U15, U18 or higher-level minor hockey. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
