Service: ROW, Heritage & Urban Dsgn Services Employment Type: 1 Full-time Temporary (up to 18 months) Work Hours: 35.00 hours per weekAffiliation: MPE/New City MPE Salary Information: $113,700.86 - $143,798.20 annually (2025 rates of pay)Location: 100 Constellation, Nepean Job Category: Planning and Infrastructure Application Close: 06/10/2026JOB SUMMARY Surveys and Mapping provides corporate legal survey and mapping services in support of the City’s planning, development and infrastructure operations and to enable all City-led construction projects. You are responsible for planning and managing the production of assigned, highly complex legal surveys and geomatics products for clients across the corporation, and serving as a City land surveying expert. You are also responsible for managing staff, administering contracts and supporting branch operations. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Completion of 4 year university degree in geomatics engineering, geomatics science or other related field Minimum of 5 years of experience as a licenced Ontario land surveyor CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES Licensed Ontario Land Surveyor (cadastral surveying) with Association of Ontario Land Surveyors (AOLS)KNOWLEDGE Concepts, theories, principles, methods, techniques and practices of cadastral surveying, geodesy, hydrography and photogrammetry Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for Ontario Land Surveyors Detailed and expert knowledge of Ontario statutes and regulations related to surveys as well as the wider discipline of Real Property Law Court proceedings and common law relating to real property in Ontario Land planning fundamentals Current and emerging trends in the Legal Surveying field GIS and Land Management/Land Information systems Global Positioning Systems methods and procedures Supervisory techniques in a unionized environment Ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) to convey complex property law considerations to various audiences Must be familiar with all applicable health and safety legislation, have knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the work place, and have knowledge of appropriate actions to be taken in order to ensure the health and safety of staff in accordance with applicable legislation and City policies and procedures COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Core Behaviours Core behaviours define the City's expectations of the behaviours employees should demonstrate in performing their work. Requirements
Candidates must hold a four-year university degree in geomatics engineering or a related field and possess at least five years of experience as a licensed Ontario Land Surveyor. A valid license with the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors is mandatory.
