General Accountant Location: Toronto, ON Workplace: 4 days on-site, 1 day flexible/remote Salary: $65,000-75,000 The Opportunity: Our client, a leading Canadian hospitality group with a diverse portfolio of upscale restaurants, event venues, and catering operations across multiple cities, is seeking a General Accountant to join their finance team. Key Responsibilities: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with established schedules and IFRS standards. Analyze monthly profit and loss statements to identify variances, discrepancies, and areas requiring further review. Oversee all aspects of the month-end close process, including accruals, intercompany transfers, and journal entry preparation and adjustments. Perform monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of reporting and proper ledger maintenance, investigating and resolving discrepancies as needed. Collaborate with operations and management teams to understand reporting requirements and provide financial insights to support business decisions. Partner with on-site management teams to coordinate and streamline accounting processes across multiple business units. Communicate regularly with operations staff to resolve account discrepancies and ensure financial accuracy. Prepare and distribute bi-weekly payroll and gratuity reports. Record and reconcile sales across multiple locations to ensure completeness and accuracy. Reconcile credit card and gift card transactions to actual payments received. Prepare customer invoices for events and verify details with the sales team. Process intercompany charges and verify transactions between related entities. Manage accounts receivable for multiple entities and reconcile balances to the subledger and general ledger. Perform additional accounting duties and support special projects as assigned. What We Need From You: 2–4 years of practical accounting experience. Professional accounting designation (CPA) or currently pursuing the designation. Experience in the hospitality or service industry is considered an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics NAV or similar ERP systems is an advantage. Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and analytical skills. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Hybrid role requiring on-site presence in Toronto, ON (4 days per week).
