Employment Type: Full-Time Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid - 4 days on-site) Salary: $120,000–$130,000 plus bonus Industry: Construction Position Type: Existing Vacancy About the Opportunity Our client is an established firm supporting commercial projects across Canada. They work with a range of organizations to deliver integrated solutions from planning through execution. This Finance Manager role is a core operational leadership position, reporting directly to the CFO with the support of a Junior Accountant. You will be the steward of the company's financial engine across multiple entities, owning everything from month-end close to project-level profitability to systems and process design. You will operate end-to-end across the finance function in a fast-moving, project-based business where the ability to see what's coming, get ahead of it, and solve problems without waiting for permission is what separates good operators from great ones. This is not a maintenance role. You will be expected to identify what isn't working, design something better, and implement it. Key Responsibilities Own core finance operations across multiple entities, including reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, invoicing, government filings, and the accuracy of all financial data Drive monthly project-level profitability analysis and forecasting; escalate material variances to the Controller and support action planning Identify and implement systems and process improvements across the finance function; design and deploy changes that measurably improve efficiency and accuracy Develop, maintain, and monitor budgets and forecasts; provide regular updates and scenario analysis to support business decision-making Partner commercially across the organization, translating financial detail into actionable insights for operational leaders Lead and support the external audit process Manage and develop the Junior Accountant, fostering continuous learning and building team capability What You Bring 5+ years of accounting or finance experience CPA, or equivalent professional qualification Extreme ownership - you treat outcomes as yours and move forward without waiting for permission or being chased Detail-oriented and fast - you execute with accuracy without sacrificing speed Solutions-minded - you come with answers, not just problems Technical strength and genuine love of accounting paired with strong analytical capability Comfort operating under ambiguity while keeping the bigger picture in view Commercial acumen and collaborative working style; you understand the business behind the numbers Demonstrated track record of building and implementing systems, tools, or processes that made a finance function measurably better Nice to Have Experience in construction, or other project-based businesses Exposure to multi-entity operations or consolidation Next Steps We do appreciate all interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
