Job details

Employment Type: Full-Time Workplace: 5 days on-site Location: Headquartered in Southern Ontario with multiple regional facilities Salary: $110,000 - $125,000 Industry: Manufacturing Position Type: Backfill About the Opportunity Our client is a well-established, privately held manufacturer of engineered material components serving the automotive, industrial, and construction sectors. The company has decades of history in its space and is currently investing in modernizing its operations, including a transition to a new ERP platform. Reporting directly to the General Manager and without direct reports, you'll own the full HR generalist mandate across their three sites — labour relations, health & safety, recruiting and onboarding, performance management, and policy — while partnering closely with the CFO on benefits and legacy matters. The Leadership is looking for someone who can bring structure, discipline, and a calm, steady hand to a fast-moving and unionized environment. This is a build role. You'll design the company's KPI-linked bonus program, stand up joint health & safety committees across all sites, and author a 12-month HR roadmap that will shape how the function runs going forward while supporting business transformations. If you are an HR Manager who wants real ownership rather than executing someone else's playbook, this is a rare chance to rebuild the infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Own day-to-day HR generalist functions across three Ontario manufacturing sites Serve as the frontline point of contact for a unionized workforce, handling day-to-day labour relations matters with composure and sound judgment Partner with the CFO and outside counsel on benefits administration, legacy HR matters, and collective bargaining support (negotiation itself is handled externally) Lead full-cycle recruiting and rebuild the onboarding process to improve new-hire ramp-up and retention Design and roll out KPI dashboards and metrics to bring structure to performance management Establish and support joint health & safety committees across all sites Update and publish core HR policies, and develop a 12-month HR roadmap within the first several months Act as emergency backup to process payroll (currently Ceridian Dayforce) for a workforce of roughly 160–190 employees Help design and implement a KPI-linked bonus structure replacing the current discretionary bonus. Strengthen the organization's recruiting and applicant-tracking capability Support the HR/workforce-data side of a company-wide ERP transition What You Bring Progressive HR generalist experience in a unionized, multi-site manufacturing environment Composed under pressure, with the resilience to stay steady through friction in a fast-paced shop-floor setting Strong time-management and prioritization skills, with the discipline to triage competing demands without becoming a bottleneck Clear, proactive communicator who escalates issues on a timely basis rather than letting them sit Comfortable setting boundaries and structuring working relationships, rather than trying to be everything to everyone Experience building or working within HR metrics/KPI dashboards Experience supporting joint health & safety committees Hands-on experience with performance management processes and workforce planning Nice to Have Exposure to collective bargaining processes (negotiation experience not required, but familiarity is an asset) Experience improving or building onboarding programs from scratch Exposure to an ERP implementation (Dynamics 365 or similar) Next Steps: We here at Clarity Recruitment would like to thank you for your application Only those chosen for a phone interview will be contacted via email and text to set up a phone interview Clarity Recruitment and our client are firmly committed to fostering diversity within our community. Our clients welcome those who would contribute to the further diversification of their staff, including, but not limited to, women, visible minorities, Aboriginal people, persons with disabilities, and persons of any sexual orientation or gender identity.
