Job Summary The incumbent acts as the first point of contact for the Company's vehicle drivers when vehicle servicing or repairs are needed. The incumbent liaises with vendors performing work on CN's vehicles. Working in a call centre environment, the incumbent provides assistance and guidance to CN drivers and vendors. Main Responsibilities Manage all aspects of repairs and preventive maintenance performed on CN vehicles by approved commercial vendors Act as a resource person for user departments and commercial vendors Issue and update expenditure authorization numbers, according to the department's guidelines, for repairs performed by a commercial vendor Verify and code invoices to ensure charged costs correspond to the work authorized Make sure that preventive maintenance, government inspections, and recalls are performed according to schedule Ensure compliance with applicable warranties and servicing agreements Perform other related duties as assigned Working Conditions Must be able to work in an office environment and a call centre Must be available to work 5 days a week for 8 hours daily with 2 days off Located at the head quarter office in Montreal Respirator use is required for certain tasks, with periodic audiometric testing and respirator fit testing conducted as needed Experience Minimum 5 years of experience in the automotive and/or commercial vehicle repair trade Experience in general automotive and/or commercial vehicle repairs of gas and diesel vehicles, as well as hi-rail equipment and hydraulic-mounted equipment Experience as a Foreperson or Mechanic* Education/Certification/Designation Valid Provincial Mechanic Journeyperson certificate Mechanic certification in Truck and Coach, Commercial Transport or Heavy Duty* Competencies We Care About Each Other We Strive for Excellence We Succeed Together We Lead Responsibly Technical Skills/Knowledge Ability to pass the Company's "A" Mechanic test Ability to pass CN's medical exam Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and recommend repairs Strong telephone communication and interpersonal skills, as assessed through a structured interview by Fleet Management Knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel) and other mainframe computer systems Ability to type 20 words per minute Willingness to improve telephone, typing and computer skills Fluency in spoken and written English and French Any requirement marked with (*) will be considered an asset (not mandatory). Additional Information (If Any) The role is required to attend internal training to learn how CN's Systems work and the Company's procedures.This position is a unionized position. As such, pay and benefits are governed by the applicable collective agreement.

Requirements

Requires at least five years of automotive or commercial vehicle repair experience, including gas and diesel vehicles, and a valid provincial mechanic journeyperson certificate. Candidates must pass the company's mechanic test and medical exam, demonstrate mechanical diagnostic and communication skills, and be fluent in spoken and written English and French; foreperson or mechanic certification in Truck and Coach, Commercial Transport, or Heavy Duty is an asset.
