Key Responsibilities: • Oversee the daily operations of the Produce Department, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant processes. • Lead, coach, and support Produce Team Members through recruitment, training, performance management, and employee development. • Promote a positive, engaging, and customer-focused work environment. • Ensure exceptional customer service standards are consistently met and customer concerns are resolved promptly and effectively. • Manage inventory control, ordering, receiving, product rotation, claims, and shrink reduction. • Maintain high standards for product quality, freshness, merchandising, pricing, and department presentation. • Support and execute marketing programs, promotional events, and merchandising initiatives to drive sales. • Monitor department sales, margins, labour costs, expenses, and overall financial performance. • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction. • Ensure compliance with food safety, WHMIS, occupational health and safety, and company policies and procedures. • Collaborate with store leadership, suppliers, and other departments to achieve operational and business objectives. • Represent Heritage Co-op's Values, Vision, Mission, and Brand while supporting community and corporate social responsibility initiatives. Education and Experience: • Grade 12 education or equivalent required; post-secondary education is considered an asset. • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in retail, grocery, produce, or customer service environments is preferred. • Strong customer service skills with a proven ability to build relationships and resolve concerns effectively. • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, motivate, and engage Team Members. • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. • Effective verbal and written communication skills. • Commitment to ongoing learning, development, and industry training. • WHMIS certification or willingness to obtain. • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain. • Retail grocery environment requiring prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and repetitive movements. • May be required to lift and carry items up to 25 kg and work in refrigerated storage and produce preparation areas.
