Position Overview: BACKGROUND We are seeking an experienced technical resource who can become the team’s go-to person for technical questions and recommendations, provide strong architectural and development direction. Job Description We are looking for a hands-on Technical Lead with a strong Microsoft .NET development background for a 12 month onsite contract in Calgary who can provide technical leadership across application development and architecture. This person should be equally comfortable reviewing technical approaches, making architectural recommendations, mentoring Application Analysts/developers, and getting hands-on when required. Key Responsibilities: Provide technical leadership and guidance to Application Analysts and developers. Serve as the escalation point for application development and technical design questions. Recommend application architecture, design patterns, development standards, and technical approaches. Design, build, enhance, and troubleshoot .NET-based applications. Review solutions and help ensure applications are maintainable, scalable, and aligned with appropriate development practices. Mentor junior team members and help improve the team’s overall technical capability. Work with Traci and other stakeholders to translate business/application requirements into practical technical solutions. Help evaluate options and make recommendations rather than simply waiting for technical direction. Core Skills: Strong hands-on .NET / C# development experience. Demonstrated application architecture and solution design experience. JavaScript development experience. Working knowledge of Python. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Experience leading or mentoring developers / Application Analysts. Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical recommendations clearly. Nice to Have: Microsoft Dynamics experience. Experience working in public sector, Crown, research, or similarly structured enterprise environments. Azure / Microsoft cloud exposure would be beneficial if available. The key piece is that the successful cannot just be a senior developer. They need to be comfortable owning technical recommendations, guiding a junior team, answering questions, and operating as a trusted technical lead.
