About Us We’re a growing shared services organization that provides IT, HR, and finance support to professional services firms across Canada and the United States. Our team works behind the scenes so our partner firms can focus on what they do best. The Role We’re looking for a detail-driven Payroll & Benefits Specialist to own payroll and benefits across multiple organizations on both sides of the border. Reporting to the Director of People & Culture, you’ll make sure people are paid accurately and on time, help employees understand their benefits, and look for ways to make our processes better. You’ll work closely with People & Culture, Finance, and our external providers. What You’ll Do Run payroll: Process semi-monthly payrolls across multiple entities, provinces, states, and platforms, including bonuses, commissions, and adjustments. Stay compliant: Manage payroll taxes, remittances, and reporting under Canadian and U.S. federal, provincial, and state requirements. Administer benefits: Handle enrolments, changes, terminations, and reconciliations, and coordinate with benefits providers. Keep records accurate: Maintain employee data across HRIS and payroll systems, securely and correctly. Support our people: Be the go-to resource for payroll and benefits questions from employees and internal partners. Onboard and offboard: As it pertains to payroll and benefits, make sure new hires and departing employees are set up and processed promptly. Lead year-end: Own T4s, W-2s, filings, and year-end reconciliations. Improve things: Support audits and internal controls, and find ways to make payroll and benefits more accurate, efficient, and employee-friendly. What You Bring 4–6 years of progressive payroll and benefits experience Hands-on experience processing payroll in both Canada and the U.S., ideally across multiple provinces and states Solid knowledge of Canadian and U.S. payroll, tax, benefits, and employment rules A post-secondary diploma or degree in Payroll, HR, Business, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Strong skills with payroll systems, HRIS, and MS Office, especially Excel Sharp attention to detail and the ability to hit deadlines under pressure Clear communication, sound judgement, and absolute discretion with confidential information Bonus points: Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation or equivalent. Why Join Us Fully paid benefits: We cover 100% of the premiums for health, dental, vision, a health spending account, and employee assistance. Unlimited vacation: Take the time you need to rest and recharge, with a hybrid schedule that fits your life. Room to grow: We invest in your development, from new skills to professional designations. Trust and autonomy: We hire capable people and give them the space to do their best work, with open communication and real recognition along the way. Ambitious, supportive team: Work alongside driven colleagues who care about doing great work and making a positive impact. This position requires a successful criminal and background check. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and will provide accommodations throughout the hiring process upon request.
