LOCATION Head Office, Vernon, BC THE ROLE The Payroll and Benefits Coordinator is detail-oriented, organized, and brings strong critical thinking skills to support the effective administration of benefits and pension programs, with a focus on accuracy and compliance while also delivering a positive employee experience. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum 5 five years of related experience (or equivalent education/experience) in payroll and benefits administration. Demonstrated experience with UKG Pro and Workforce Management is considered an asset. In depth knowledge of benefits administration, pension plans, labour legislation, WCB, and CRA requirements. Strong analytical and accounting skills, including payroll and benefits-related journal entries and reconciliations. Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet critical deadlines. Effective communication and service-oriented mindset, fostering positive relationships across all levels. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Word and Outlook. Demonstrated experience with UKG Pro and Workforce Management is considered an asset. CEBS certification or PCP designation with the Canadian Payroll Association is also considered an asset. KEY COMPONENTS OF THE ROLE INCLUDE Coordinate company benefits and pension programs by ensuring accurate and timely enrolment into programs, Provide benefits and pension information to new and existing employees, from time of hire through to retirement/departure. Coordinate the annual benefits open enrolment for eligible salaried and hourly employees. Act as a resource to divisions for group benefits and pension plans. Support employees through various leaves including maternity/parental, disability, etc. Handle confidential matters by answering employee inquiries and preparing confidential correspondence. Review and process various payroll related benefits and retirement plan reports including benefit deductions and retirement plan contributions. Deliver HR and payroll analytics and reporting. Review and process numerous benefits vendor invoices. Complete month end procedures including journal entries and processing entries in JDE. Complete quarterly account reconciliations for numerous G/L accounts related to payroll and benefits. Conduct regular audits to uphold data accuracy and compliance with internal standards and external regulations. Back up support to process full cycle bi-weekly payroll for hourly employees.
