We are officially expanding into the Creative Minds, Music & Arts Therapy Centre—a new multi-disciplinary hub in South Whitby, bringing music, art, and play-based therapies together under one roof. We are seeking passionate, skilled music therapists to help us launch this chapter. Position Overview We are seeking qualified, innovative, and compassionate Certified Music Therapists (MTAs or Q-MTA) to join us in an Independent Contractors role. Help us build our clinical culture from the ground up at our new South Whitby location. This role specializes in supporting children and youth presenting with various developmental diagnoses (including Autism and ADHD) as well as diverse mental health needs. This independent contractor opportunity will begin with a limited caseload, with the potential for additional referrals as we transition into our new facility and expand our client base across the Durham Region. No minimum caseload or number of service hours is guaranteed As a contractor, you will enjoy clinical autonomy while benefiting from the administrative support, community reputation, and collaborative network of an established therapeutic practice. Key Responsibilities ● Conduct clinical music therapy assessments and intake sessions tailored for children, adolescents, and their families. ● Design and implement creative, age-appropriate, and goal-oriented music therapy treatment plans that accommodate both neurodivergent clients and those presenting with mental health challenges. ● Facilitate engaging individual and/or small group music therapy sessions that promote emotional regulation, self-expression, social communication, motor skills, and coping mechanisms. ● Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely clinical documentation (progress notes, treatment plans, and termination summaries). ● Collaborate with parents/guardians and our expanding multi-disciplinary team (including other music therapists and art therapists) to provide holistic, wrap-around care. ● Manage your own scheduling and client communications in alignment with practice policies. Qualifications & Credentials ● Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music Therapy from an accredited institution. ● Credentials: Certified Music Therapist (MTA) status in good standing with the Canadian Association of Music Therapists (CAMT). ● Regulation: Registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) or MTA status with psychotherapeutic training is an asset. Qualifying Registered Psychotherapists (RPs) are also welcome to apply. ● Experience: Proven experience working clinically with children and youth, specifically those with developmental diagnoses (such as Autism and ADHD) and mental health needs (e.g., anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional regulation difficulties). ● Skills: Strong clinical musicianship (proficiency in guitar, piano, and voice). Deep understanding of neurodiversity-affirming care and trauma-informed practices. An entrepreneurial mindset suited for independent contract work. ● Requirements: Professional liability insurance, a valid driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle, and a current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
