We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Designer to join our dynamic Engineering team. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, testing, and launch of new ambulance and specialty vehicle products. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will help create innovative, manufacturable solutions that support product quality, production efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction. This role is well suited to an engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, collaborating across departments, and seeing their designs progress from concept through production. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES As the Mechanical Engineering Designer, you will: Design and develop new products, features, and improvements that meet Crestline engineering standards, customer requirements, OEM chassis specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements. Create and maintain accurate 3D models, drawings, bills of materials, and other engineering documentation. Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to improve manufacturability, efficiency, quality, and cost. Collaborate with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, Service, and Sales teams to develop practical and scalable design solutions. Support prototype development, product validation, testing, certification activities, and production launches. Investigate production and service-related issues and develop corrective actions and design improvements. Participate in project planning activities, including requirements definition, risk identification, and engineering deliverables. Work with suppliers to evaluate components, support product development activities, and validate design solutions. Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product performance, quality, manufacturability, and efficiency. Support engineering change management, revision control, and technical documentation processes. Contribute to the standardization of products, components, and engineering practices across the organization. QUALIFICATIONS As the Mechanical Engineering Designer, you will have: A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Approximately five years of experience in product design, manufacturing, or a related engineering environment preferred. Experience designing products within a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly, and value engineering principles. Experience with 3D CAD software, preferably Autodesk Inventor and Vault. Experience developing engineering drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation. Understanding of engineering change management and revision control processes. Experience working cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Production, Supply Chain, Quality, or other operational teams. Strong project management, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. The following would be considered assets: Experience with project management tools such as risk registers, project charters, requirements management, or DFMEA/FMEA. Experience with product testing, validation, certification, or compliance activities. Experience in Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement environments.
